Brrr its cold in here: Sweater Roundup

sweaters
Its not officially winter yet but it sure does feel like it already. And this Cali girl is freezing her buns off! I usually just want to wrap up in some really warm sweats, a cozy sweater and fuzzy slipper….alas, since I can step out of the house like that. some comfy crew neck sweatshirts will have to do. I have a ton of favorites…too many to count so I wanted to do a little round up on my favorite and fun, accessible sweaters. Go pick them up now!!
I love how sweaters are definitely a great go-to piece to just throw on with some jeans or even a skirt! and you don’t have to feel like your are skimping out on style. Have fun with it! and with places like forever 21 and target having a lot of cute affordable options…there’s no reason to choose. you can get one of each (well that’s my theory anyways)

Coming soon to L+K

20130408-185656.jpg

Hello Lovelies!

We here at Lambs & Kings are always evolving and we want the blog to evolve with us. We are always trying to think of ways to improve, go bigger and stay relevant to “where we are” currently.

Soo…What’s up with us and What’s coming up on L+K?

Being a new Mommy certainly has contributed to my lack of time here on the blog not just b/c of time constraints but also because I wanted to be able to bring my A-game if I was to continue blogging, not just posting just to post…and juggling my time with baby Myles. The time off, gave me time to think about what I want to add to the blog and how I can make it include the biggest and newest portion of my lifestyle…which is being a mommy. Also I had to reconsider, how to juggle the blog, baby, home, and work (which I am starting next week! yikes!) so I came up with a plan that I think will make it fun for readers…give you something to look forward to… and give us the time we need to keep all our juggling balls in the air.

  • Monthly Themes / Weekly Posts: Each month we will have a theme (ex: diy, fashion, food, travel etc) and we will post on that topic once a week (every Thurs/Fri)
  • Weekly Wardrobe Roundup: I love experimenting with my wardrobe for work and for weekending. My goal is to do a roundup of my favorite wardrobe highlights from the week
  • Product Reviews: I love trying out new products for different things and I want to share my thoughts with you in case some of you out there are interested in trying out the same products. Products will vary from: baby gear, beauty products, food! If you have a product that you would like me to try and review, contact me.
  • Interviews: There are a lot of people that are an inspiration to me and they play a big fueling part to what and why I do this blog. Some of you may even know these individuals and if you are like me, I always wonder what its like to be them and pick their brain a little bit.

So what do you think? I hope you are just as excited as I am about these changes…let me know if you have any suggestions or if you would like to see something here on the blog.

xoxo

Roman Holiday… with a bump

Roman Holiday with a baby bump

Our Roman Getaway is a week away. This will be the last time we travel abroad before our little man makes an appearance…..so technically this is our babymoon! We planned it before we knew we were pregnant and when we found out, it was literally God’s grace that it ended up being in my second trimester when I could still travel. We had to tweak our itinerary a bit so the trip could be more “pregnant lady friendly”.  Instead of trotting all over the country, we picked two places we just had to go to in order to cut down on travel/transfer time giving us a chance to relax and settle down in each place rather than being… go go go all the time.

We will be settling in the hustle and bustle of Rome and all its Romance and then jetting out to the Italian Riviera for some R&R in Cinque Terre….Im looking for coastal views, hot sun, and some water time for this pregnant lady.

5 Things: That make me smile

1. Mint & Nude

I love this oh-so-chic-ly styled outfit showcasing a yummy minty sweater. I need one {image}

2. Colorful scarves and wraps

The amazing work of etsy artist SolDelSur showcases fun colors and handmade goodness…not to mention these to die for Aztec scarves

3. Classic Watches

Need Not say more…I need this watch!

4. Flowy and Flowery Anything

Images of summer and flowy styles run through my head all day long.  Perfect for passing the time in my cold cold cubbie at work. {image}

5. Dreamy Summer Sips

If you have not tried your share of Lavender Lemonade, you are missing out. This is my favorite Sunny Weather sip. Perfect for this long weekend coming up. Here is the recipe

Truth is, I havent been feeling up to snuff lately and have gotten under the weather a lot which is the reason for my absence. I hope to share more with you all soon…I promise. but for now, I hope little snipets will keep you guys entertained while I get back up to speed.  Hope you enjoy and more new later  =)

Getaway: San Diego

This past weekend, the hubby and I escaped to our Home away from Home: San Diego.
Beach time, waves and ocean breeze, shopping, foodie-ness, bright colored outfits, local art….was just what this girl needed.
We ate at a bunch of new places…SD is always popping up with newer and yummier places to sip and eat. We tried a cute brunch place called cafe chloe in downtown. One night we opted for a much needed dose of lucha libre mexican food. The other evening we chose Urban Solace for our wining and dining experience. This place is tucked away in trendy North park and has a great ambiance and wonderful food.

I decided to try the pork belly entree and Daniel got the chicken and dumplings. We snacked on their cheddar biscuits with yummy herb butter….Those biscuits were amazing and my pork belly was the best I ever had. I would recommend this place for a great dinner out. We had a private table but they also promote communal dining where you can share a table with other smaller parties. We thought that, that was pretty fun. I have to point out that there was a glaring art piece of Ron Burgundy (Anchorman) behind the bar…this was actually my favorite part!

To end our night and walk off the wine, we strolled through the “Ray St. @ Night” art walk. and listened to  live indie music with their own dancing kids. All the art studios were open for any of our art viewing pleasures. I got really drawn to the geodes and rocks that were popping up in a lot of the galleries. I couldn’t resist and bought a piece of green calcite which is the stone of “Letting go and moving on” and very cool piece of petrified wood which was collected and polished by artist “Orion Jewelry & Lapidary“. He travels all over to collect pieces and cut and polish them to make dramatic pieces. The hubby was super sweet and bought me a handmade blue octopus patina necklace made by Zedena Designs. Her work was displayed in the Striving Artist Gallery where they showcase local artists. She actually made the octopus by hand by making her own mold. This piece is so fun and I love why Daniel thought of buying it for me. He says, an octopus reminds him of me because I am always doing so many things at once, have different projects going on and am able to balance it all. Such a sweety!

Check out our spoils from the Art walk below!!

Isn’t the octopus cute?! Such a fun weekend! San Diego will always be a home to us. So I hear the weather here in Northern Cali will be beautiful…Here’s to another great weekend. What do you have planned?

Try it Out-fit: Long Cardigans and Shorts

cardigan over short inspiration
Pairing a long cardigan with some sexy and flattering shorts is perfect for spring. You get to show a little leg while staying demure and a little bit warmer up top (for those sometimes chilly+sunny days). I was inspired by OPs look pictured above (looove her) and hopefully you try this outfit style yourself.
One tip: make sure the sweater hits below the hem of the shorts and pair with some demure heels…not too high.

I would love to wear a bold cardigan with some neutral shorts and blouse with a played down heal.
