Wedding Trends 2013: Ombre Cake

ombre wedding cake

Well hello Loves!! How is everyone enjoying their summer? I hope you didnt think I forgot about L+K… and most importantly, about the third wedding trend of 2013. Sorry for the Hiatus, I switched jobs and had to take care of some Childcare situations for the bebeb.

Today’s trend is mouth watering goodness…yet too pretty to think about eating. If you’ve been looking at the same stuff I have, there is no mistake that Ombre cakes are a big hit this year. Can someone say “trend alert” ! Bakers are getting very creative and their creations are absolutely beautiful. They range from elaborate ombre layering, to minimalistic or geometric details. Either way, I’m a big fan. You can see my Ombre Roundup above….these are just some of my faves.

And of course, I always love to offer a modified version. If you are not into the ombre look on the outside of your cake, you can always go ombre “inside.” Guests will have such a pretty looking suprise when your servers place that cake plate in front of them and they see those wonderful hues of cake.

Have any of you had an ombre cake for your wedding or party? please share!! I would love to see it!

Cheers

Coming soon to L+K

20130408-185656.jpg

Hello Lovelies!

We here at Lambs & Kings are always evolving and we want the blog to evolve with us. We are always trying to think of ways to improve, go bigger and stay relevant to “where we are” currently.

Soo…What’s up with us and What’s coming up on L+K?

Being a new Mommy certainly has contributed to my lack of time here on the blog not just b/c of time constraints but also because I wanted to be able to bring my A-game if I was to continue blogging, not just posting just to post…and juggling my time with baby Myles. The time off, gave me time to think about what I want to add to the blog and how I can make it include the biggest and newest portion of my lifestyle…which is being a mommy. Also I had to reconsider, how to juggle the blog, baby, home, and work (which I am starting next week! yikes!) so I came up with a plan that I think will make it fun for readers…give you something to look forward to… and give us the time we need to keep all our juggling balls in the air.

  • Monthly Themes / Weekly Posts: Each month we will have a theme (ex: diy, fashion, food, travel etc) and we will post on that topic once a week (every Thurs/Fri)
  • Weekly Wardrobe Roundup: I love experimenting with my wardrobe for work and for weekending. My goal is to do a roundup of my favorite wardrobe highlights from the week
  • Product Reviews: I love trying out new products for different things and I want to share my thoughts with you in case some of you out there are interested in trying out the same products. Products will vary from: baby gear, beauty products, food! If you have a product that you would like me to try and review, contact me.
  • Interviews: There are a lot of people that are an inspiration to me and they play a big fueling part to what and why I do this blog. Some of you may even know these individuals and if you are like me, I always wonder what its like to be them and pick their brain a little bit.

So what do you think? I hope you are just as excited as I am about these changes…let me know if you have any suggestions or if you would like to see something here on the blog.

xoxo

Pretty in Pink Wedding! {Reminiscing}

Before we began Lambs & Kings, we coordinated wedding events for lovely couples with lovely weddings. Last year, we had the pleasure of coordinating a drop dead gorgeous wedding in Aptos, Ca at the the Pacific Estate and Vineyard. It was a  cute country chic estate that had a small vineyard and a large lawn and patio that overlooked the Santa Cruz mountain scenery. It was a perfect setting for vintage inspired chic wedding which is exactly what our clients were dreaming of. My bride is super creative and dreamt up the whole event and knew exactly what she wanted from the shades of pink, to the collected vintage glass, vintage typewriter guestbook, and tons of crafty projects! Everything was meticulously thought out.

We were so giddy to find out that this wedding was featured on Style Me Pretty yesterday!! Its not a surprise as the event was so beautiful and photog Stephan Pappas did a superb job capturing it and Nicole Ha created a beautiful feel with her stunning florals. The entire team was great. Head on over to Style me Pretty to see the FULL post and all the glorious images.

This is just a small peek. Give them some love on the SMP site! Seeing these images reminds me how much fun we had doing weddings and working with all our awesome clients and vendors…seriously, all of them are awesome. We definitely do miss it. However, since we are super busy with the business re branding process, and the possibility of going back to school and/or starting a family, we had to put it on hold this year. We are planning to start styling events and doing prop design soon with the focus more on intimate events such as smaller/intimate weddings (such as this one), parties and showers and photo shoots. Stay tuned!

Do you have a wonderful eye catching wedding that you want to share?! Let us know!
