Bebe Season

bebe essentials

While most of you darlings are claiming “wedding season” …. I am declaring this Bebe Season!! I have gotten so much wonderful news from family and friends alike about little bundles of joy that are on the way for them. It such an exciting time for all of them and you know who you are =)

With all the recent baby news, Ive been getting asked about what some of my fave baby products are since Myles is now well into his toddler-hood (which I will save for another post)…more specifically, what were the items we couldnt live without. I realized that I never really got a chance to share that with all of you so I thought it would make a fun post to celebrate all the exciting news.

With that said, Myles is our first baby and with that came the stereotypical…”buy everything in the baby store syndrome”…we definitely did that! But hubby and I were very particular with some of the items we got for him and I of course was more particular on the style of many of those items lol. But out of all the knick knacks, doo-dads, random crap we got. Here are my picks for our favorite items. These things we definitely could not live without when we finally had the little nugget. Enjoy!!

Left to Right
1. Baby Bjorn Bouncer – Myles lived in this for like 6 months. He had silent reflux and this was the only position we could get him to eat in because he was so comfy.
2. Bringing Up Bebe – A fun read to add humor to your new journey of mama hood. also gives a different perspective
3. Bugaboo Cameleon Stroller – Glides so smoothly!
4. Freshly Picked Mocassins – one word “obsessed” Pefect first baby shoes but I still buy them for Myles.
5. Skip Hop Diaper bag – Lets be honest, I have a lot of “diaper bags” but this one is great because its classic and practical at the same time without looking too much like a diaper bag. The subtle Gold accents make it look a bit more special
6. Becco Gemini Carier – So comfy and you can wear it inward facing, outward facing, side hip and on the back. Myles still loves it.
7. 4Moms Breeze playpen – This to me is the play pen of playpends, its modular simple design lives up to its name because it is a breeze to open and close and move around. It also has an infant inset which myles slept in for the first 7 months of his life
8. Ubi Diaper Pail – No Stink and practical. It uses any trash bag and is barely even there.
9. Aden + Anais Muslin Swaddles– A classic Swaddle. To us these were the best swaddle blankets, Large enough to do different swaddles, Thin enough so that bebe wont be sweating up a storm and very versatile for othe uses.

Essentials for the Baby Waiting Game

essentials for the baby waiting game

Well folks…I have been on Maternity leave for a week now and have officially started the “Baby Waiting Game”. My days are full of extra sleep since night-time sleep is touch and go, pampering, reading, lounging around, staying active,  and a few bouts of shopping both in store and online. These are a few of my favorite things as I anxiously await baby boy.

For all you “mommy-to-bes” out there, when it comes to starting maternity leave, there is hope in staying comfy, stylish and glamorous. I believe it is essential so you don’t get cabin fever or start feeling crummy about yourself. I like to mix my days with doing some baby prep errands, a little physical activity, a bit of lounging, eating, sleeping, shopping, and lots of water….and not feel bad or guilty about any of it =)

Put on some comfy cute pjs, a good robe, light a fragrant candle, prop your feet up and pop open a good read, or finish writing those thank you notes from the baby shower….this is your time…enjoy it!! Baby will be here soon!!

1. Eberjey jersey robe – Feel fabulous while walking around the house
2. Kate Spade white pearl necklace – dress up any outfit when you step out for errands or wear it around the house
3. Target Tech accessory for the ipad – Give your ipad a facelift and make it more fun when you do your e-shopping
4. Topshop cream nail polish – Because everyone needs a classic manicure. The bottle is too cute!
5. John Robshaw Gold Thank You Stationery (Set of 10) – spend time writing letters or finishing those TY notes
6. DIPTYQUE ‘Gardenia’ scented candle, – Fill the home with some fancy “smell goods”
7. Target Xhilaration® Junior’s Pajama Set – White – How can these PJs not make you smile?
8. Gold embossed personalized pencils in pink – Somethings pretty to write those notes or even your grocery list
9. Grace- A memoir by Grace Coddington – A very very good read

“Oh Baby!” Shower

{all images by Vivian Sachs Photography}

Last weekend was our Baby Shower for the “Little Man.” I was so excited to finally celebrate his arrival with all our friends and family. To top it off, our friend and “go to” photographer, Vivian Sachs was there to capture everything.

Hubby and I started planning for the shower months in advance due to the fact that we had two big families and space would be an issue. I immediately went into design mode and for the past three months, it has been my little project on the side that gets my creative juices flowing. With Pintrest and numerous blogs for inspiration, and my handy/crafty familia at my side…I was really excited to put everything together.

Instead of going for a theme, I picked colors as my base and made a list of all the little details I wanted to add. I then started to think of how to make it all fit together.

Our Venue: Historic Adobe Building, Mountain View, CA

Base Colors: Navy Blue, White, Lime Green, Orange

Motif: Stripes, Chevron, Pops of Color, Playful

The sweets table was probably my favorite to put together since I just love eating sweets and treats right now =) On the table:

  • Chevron Cake made by my cousin Celine
  • Coordinating cupcakes also made by my cousin
  • SF Giants sugar cookies from Sweet Keiras to include mine and my husband’s vast enthusiasm for our bay area sports teams
  • Navy Blue M&Ms
  • Popcorn Cones filled with White Cheddar or Kettle Corn flavored popcorn. I made these using a simple template found here and bought some mini clothes pins from Michael’s and used a scallop punch out to cut out the tags. Double sided tape was the best at sealing the cones
  • Orange and Green swirl mini Lollipops with our custom Thank you sticker
  • Chevron treat bags from Shopsweetlulu.com which also had our custom Thank you sticker we ordered from Etsy’s The Preppy Lady Bug
  • specialty napkins we found at target and were on sale!

The streamer background was made by my family and myself. We were cutting and frilling crepe paper while watching all the torturous SF Giants playoff games. Since we had the shower at a historical building, we couldnt nail or hang anything from the walls or beams, so my dad and I constructed a simple pipe and drape using PVC piping. We actually made two backdrops. One for the sweets table and one for the Self Photo Booth. Want to make these cute frilly streamers? Here is the How to that we used!

The banners were made by mom using cream burlap and simple navy card stock. She drew and cut out the letters herself.

I really wanted a lot of stripes at the event and I tried to incorporate that into mini details like the straws and napkins. I was so excited to find this green and white strip overlay at a linen rental company so I paired it with a standard navy blue tablecloth for half of the guest tables.

I am currently obsessed with Geronimo balloons or anything that uses weather balloons…Just take a look at my pintrest page…I mean who isnt? So of course I used them as inspiration for our shower decor. I decided to do simple balloons for some of the centerpieces using a white weather balloon, Blue hanging tissue paper balls that I found at a typical party store and used more of the frilly streamers that my family had cut out for me. I just used glue dots (Zots) to assemble everything onto the balloon string and it worked like a charm

The second half of tables, we decided to do simple spray painted bottles with a single bloom. My Mom, Dad and Sister collected all the bottles I needed and my Dad spray painted them. The day before the shower, hubby and I picked up some coordinating blooms from the local farmers market and that was that.

My mom and I thought about doing a onesies table but not just with messy puff paints, I really wanted to try and make this activity practical and fun for the guests to make….mostly I really wanted the onesies to come out “wearable” for the baby boy. The result?? Remnant fabrics! we collected a bunch of remnant fabrics, threw in some fabric paints (the kids love those) and lots of scissors and a couple tubes of fabric glue and asked people to go to town. Above you can see only some of the numerous creative creations by our guests….Baby boy will definitely be wearing these. By the end of the event, the clothes lines were full of cute onesies.

Out of everything that resulted from the shower, the design, the presents, the food…everything, the guest book tree was my absolute favorite thing about the whole event. I ordered a digital graphic of a tree guest book (usually for weddings) from etsy seller little forests. and I printed out a 16×20 print at my local printers. We displayed it in a wood frame and had different shades of green ink pads next to it along with some sharpie markers. My sister used a little chalkboard to show the “How To” and everyone that came, made a little leaf print on the tree using their finger and wrote their name next to it. All the kids (baby’s cousins) did this as well and by the end of the day, the tree was covered in leaves. This piece of art will hang over the baby’s crib in his room. I absolutely love it.

Where there is a baby shower, there are games…more specifically, where there is a baby shower that my family is throwing, there will be games. My family loves games to a point where if there are no games at our party, some one will think something is wrong or we are not feeling well. With that said, we chose a few games play and with the weather being gorgeous outside, it made for a great setting. My sister thought of the game “Bobbing for nipples” for a set of guys to play which in itself was hilarious and gross. We also had teams of two play “feed the baby” blindfolded and for the kids, we played “Pin the baby on the Mommy”. It was so great to have a lot of kids there. They had a place to run around and play and I couldn’t help but think that soon enough, our little guy will be running around there with them.

Thanks to everyone that helped Daniel and I in throwing this baby shower…and most importantly to all our true friends and family who celebrated with us. It means the world to us that our baby boy is surrounded by such wonderful people

xoxo

Our Sunday Morning

Every year, my husband and I make it a point to take anniversary photos to document and celebrate another year together. With being married now a “whopping” two years, this year was a little bit more special since we do have our little nugget baking in the oven. We used this years shoot as our Maternity shoot as well. I wanted this year to document our “Sunday Mornings.” We have two cute spoiled pups and we’ve really taken the time to grow into our little home (2 bedroom condo). With the baby coming, things will change immensely in a good way but I wanted to make sure to be able to remember what things were like with just the two of us and our fur-balls.

Our photographer was none other than our dear and talented friend Vivian Sachs of Vivian Sachs Photography. She really is the only person that I would’ve been comfortable with coming into our home and really shooting us during an intimate time hat we hold privately and call “our own.” She is the one that also did our one year anniversary shoot .

I hope you enjoy the shots and the little sneak peak of humble abode.

We had to keep with tradition and blow out a few candles for our anniversary. The pups were very interested in the cupcake as well.

To my wonderful husband:  I love the life that we have lived, the time we’ve spent with just you and me, and the home that we have built. Things wont be the same in a couple of months…but it only gets better from here!!

xoxo

Roman Holiday… with a bump

Roman Holiday with a baby bump

Our Roman Getaway is a week away. This will be the last time we travel abroad before our little man makes an appearance…..so technically this is our babymoon! We planned it before we knew we were pregnant and when we found out, it was literally God’s grace that it ended up being in my second trimester when I could still travel. We had to tweak our itinerary a bit so the trip could be more “pregnant lady friendly”.  Instead of trotting all over the country, we picked two places we just had to go to in order to cut down on travel/transfer time giving us a chance to relax and settle down in each place rather than being… go go go all the time.

We will be settling in the hustle and bustle of Rome and all its Romance and then jetting out to the Italian Riviera for some R&R in Cinque Terre….Im looking for coastal views, hot sun, and some water time for this pregnant lady.
