Art Feature: Parima Creative Studios

live_beautiful2_web-600x600

I Love discovering new original artist that have a great aesthetic and simple but pretty look and feel. I tend to gravitate to whimsy, pretty, somewhat abstract art with bold colors and patterns.

So of course I fell in love with Parima Studios’ creations when I first spotted them on Instagram.

I first spotted Patricia Vargas’ awesomeness when I spotted her flamingo print in someones IG post.  I instantly became hooked when I saw all her other creations. The best part is that you don’t need to break the bank for these original prints. They would add a great degree of classiness and POP to any gallery wall, desktop, or living space. Take a peek and snag your favorites!!

Her Inspirational Quote prints are great as well (above) as are her free desktop calendar downloads. I get mine every month! Here is the one for August

Keep up the great work Patricia

Organized: Truffle-ing

one truffle

I am a sucker for organizing and products make it that much easier for you. A bonus would be a product that looks good and makes your stuff look good too. That is why I love these One truffle pouches. Designed with your items in mind. These lovelies are popping up all over instagram with people showing off their Truffle stuffed with their goodies….usually well thought out items that when paired together with other cutesie items in your truffle, make for a cute little showcase…and instagram photo =)

On a practical side, these pouches are great with their durable construction and clear pouch, you can see what you need to get without shuffling through the deep abyss of your bag. With sleek dimensions and great sizes that are meant to fit tablets, documents, shampoo bottles, you can see why these pouches are so versatile and wont take up a lot of space in your bag. On their website right now, they are doing 25% off three pouches….you know whos headed over there right now to grab some?…THIS gal!

I plan to use them as a great go to pouch to throw in my bag with some baby essentials making it easy for me to switch between bags. How would you use it?

BTW these make awesome Christmas presents or stocking stuffers for the organizer, traveler, or big bag hoarder in your life…just saying!

Coming soon to L+K

20130408-185656.jpg

Hello Lovelies!

We here at Lambs & Kings are always evolving and we want the blog to evolve with us. We are always trying to think of ways to improve, go bigger and stay relevant to “where we are” currently.

Soo…What’s up with us and What’s coming up on L+K?

Being a new Mommy certainly has contributed to my lack of time here on the blog not just b/c of time constraints but also because I wanted to be able to bring my A-game if I was to continue blogging, not just posting just to post…and juggling my time with baby Myles. The time off, gave me time to think about what I want to add to the blog and how I can make it include the biggest and newest portion of my lifestyle…which is being a mommy. Also I had to reconsider, how to juggle the blog, baby, home, and work (which I am starting next week! yikes!) so I came up with a plan that I think will make it fun for readers…give you something to look forward to… and give us the time we need to keep all our juggling balls in the air.

  • Monthly Themes / Weekly Posts: Each month we will have a theme (ex: diy, fashion, food, travel etc) and we will post on that topic once a week (every Thurs/Fri)
  • Weekly Wardrobe Roundup: I love experimenting with my wardrobe for work and for weekending. My goal is to do a roundup of my favorite wardrobe highlights from the week
  • Product Reviews: I love trying out new products for different things and I want to share my thoughts with you in case some of you out there are interested in trying out the same products. Products will vary from: baby gear, beauty products, food! If you have a product that you would like me to try and review, contact me.
  • Interviews: There are a lot of people that are an inspiration to me and they play a big fueling part to what and why I do this blog. Some of you may even know these individuals and if you are like me, I always wonder what its like to be them and pick their brain a little bit.

So what do you think? I hope you are just as excited as I am about these changes…let me know if you have any suggestions or if you would like to see something here on the blog.

xoxo

Essentials for the Baby Waiting Game

essentials for the baby waiting game

Well folks…I have been on Maternity leave for a week now and have officially started the “Baby Waiting Game”. My days are full of extra sleep since night-time sleep is touch and go, pampering, reading, lounging around, staying active,  and a few bouts of shopping both in store and online. These are a few of my favorite things as I anxiously await baby boy.

For all you “mommy-to-bes” out there, when it comes to starting maternity leave, there is hope in staying comfy, stylish and glamorous. I believe it is essential so you don’t get cabin fever or start feeling crummy about yourself. I like to mix my days with doing some baby prep errands, a little physical activity, a bit of lounging, eating, sleeping, shopping, and lots of water….and not feel bad or guilty about any of it =)

Put on some comfy cute pjs, a good robe, light a fragrant candle, prop your feet up and pop open a good read, or finish writing those thank you notes from the baby shower….this is your time…enjoy it!! Baby will be here soon!!

1. Eberjey jersey robe – Feel fabulous while walking around the house
2. Kate Spade white pearl necklace – dress up any outfit when you step out for errands or wear it around the house
3. Target Tech accessory for the ipad – Give your ipad a facelift and make it more fun when you do your e-shopping
4. Topshop cream nail polish – Because everyone needs a classic manicure. The bottle is too cute!
5. John Robshaw Gold Thank You Stationery (Set of 10) – spend time writing letters or finishing those TY notes
6. DIPTYQUE ‘Gardenia’ scented candle, – Fill the home with some fancy “smell goods”
7. Target Xhilaration® Junior’s Pajama Set – White – How can these PJs not make you smile?
8. Gold embossed personalized pencils in pink – Somethings pretty to write those notes or even your grocery list
9. Grace- A memoir by Grace Coddington – A very very good read

The Art of the Arnold Palmer

{photo by Honey & Jam}

While all of you are probably drinking your Harvest Blend drinks, pumpkin lates and apple ciders…I am still sipping on my go to drink which lasts me all seasons.

I am completely obsessed with Arnold Palmers, always have been. I order it / make it whenever I can. Usually seen as “summery” drink, an Arnold Palmer is simply 1/2 ice tea, 1/2 lemonade…thats it! With my AP skills getting more fine tuned I’ve figured out that I’m more of a 3/4 ice tea, 1/4 lemonade kind of gal but to each their own.

Now, even though an AP is simply pouring your ice tea into your lemonade and vice versa, you can get pretty fancy with the idea of the arnold palmer by adding flavored teas, flavored lemonades, adding fruit for infusion or adding a little kick with bourbon or honey liqour….The key for me to any of these…is Ice, Ice Ice!! Its only best when its chilly and refreshingly cold…even if its cold outside =)

Here are some recipes that you can try at home. For a holiday kick, make a cute red berry version to help you deck the hollies.  Cheers!!

{photo by Beautiful Mess}

Classic AP:

Tea:
4 large black tea bags (or 6ish regular sized tea bags)
6 cups of water

Lemonade:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water (for the simple syrup)
1 cup lemon juice (from 4-6 lemons)

Infused AP Ideas:

Add fresh cut fruit

Blueberry tea + Lemonade + fresh blueberries

Peach Tea + Lemonade + fresh grapefruit (this one is my fave!)

Rooibos Tea + raspberry Lemonade + fresh raspberries

AP with a Kick:

3/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice
4 cups water
6 big strawberries
1 cup turbinado sugar (blended into fine powder)
4 cups your favorite iced tea
2 cups bourbon

Thanks Honey & Jam, A Beautiful Mess and The Chew for your great recipes

Our Sunday Morning

Every year, my husband and I make it a point to take anniversary photos to document and celebrate another year together. With being married now a “whopping” two years, this year was a little bit more special since we do have our little nugget baking in the oven. We used this years shoot as our Maternity shoot as well. I wanted this year to document our “Sunday Mornings.” We have two cute spoiled pups and we’ve really taken the time to grow into our little home (2 bedroom condo). With the baby coming, things will change immensely in a good way but I wanted to make sure to be able to remember what things were like with just the two of us and our fur-balls.

Our photographer was none other than our dear and talented friend Vivian Sachs of Vivian Sachs Photography. She really is the only person that I would’ve been comfortable with coming into our home and really shooting us during an intimate time hat we hold privately and call “our own.” She is the one that also did our one year anniversary shoot .

I hope you enjoy the shots and the little sneak peak of humble abode.

We had to keep with tradition and blow out a few candles for our anniversary. The pups were very interested in the cupcake as well.

To my wonderful husband:  I love the life that we have lived, the time we’ve spent with just you and me, and the home that we have built. Things wont be the same in a couple of months…but it only gets better from here!!

Terrarium Update

As promised, we built our little terrarium this past weekend. The hubs and I have wanted to add some greenery to our home and given that the both of us do not a have a particularly green thumb, making a cute lovely terrarium was a great solution. Above is my first succulent terrarium… I’m super smitten over it! It now lives on one of our side tables in the living room next to a nice little window. I followed the diy from Birdhouse, which I mentioned last week. We used the open face terrarium bowl we bought from west elm because it had nice space to put different plants and it was easy to use with it’s wide open face. I figure, its my first one so I need to make this as simple as possible.

I collected all my materials which included a glass container, pebbles, active charcoal (can get at a pet store. Its used in aquariums), succulent soil and an assortment of succulent plants.

It was pretty easy to make. First you put a layer of pebbles in, then mix in some active charcoal, put your soil on top of that mixture and then place your plants as you please…and voila!!

The total project cost me about $40 but I have all material to make up to 3 more terrariums ( i bought too many succulents and the bag of soil and carton of charcoal gives you a ton) so after I make those 3 it will come out to be about $10 a terrarium. This is definitely a budget friendly project that makes a lovely gift for someone or if you are just looking for a low maintenance way to add some lovely green to your home.

Hope you enjoyed our little project.
