Brrr its cold in here: Sweater Roundup

sweaters
Its not officially winter yet but it sure does feel like it already. And this Cali girl is freezing her buns off! I usually just want to wrap up in some really warm sweats, a cozy sweater and fuzzy slipper….alas, since I can step out of the house like that. some comfy crew neck sweatshirts will have to do. I have a ton of favorites…too many to count so I wanted to do a little round up on my favorite and fun, accessible sweaters. Go pick them up now!!
I love how sweaters are definitely a great go-to piece to just throw on with some jeans or even a skirt! and you don’t have to feel like your are skimping out on style. Have fun with it! and with places like forever 21 and target having a lot of cute affordable options…there’s no reason to choose. you can get one of each (well that’s my theory anyways)

Since we were busy laying out the “Bigger and Brighter” news on the blog yesterday, we saved our first installment of weekly wardrobe roundup for today…in a truncated version we would like to call…”Weekend” Wardrobe Roundup.

This weekend was a fun filled, whirlwind with a trip to a cooler SF Fishermans warf for my sissy’s birthday, a date night with the hubby, making our rounds in the farmers market, and grabbing some dinner in the San Jose Hot spot Public Market.

Outfit Deets Clockwise:

1. Calvin Klein Trench, LV tote, H&M sweater, Cheap Monday skinnies, Anthropologie ankle boots, baubles from some random jewelry boutique

2. Blu Pepper blazer, H&M Blouse, Faux leather skinnies, Nine West heels, Marc Jacobs gold zipper clutch, Hermes “H” bracelet,

3. Gap striped sweater, Levis gray striped jeans, Tory Burch flats, C Wonder personalized tote

4. Wilsons leather jacket, mimi chica dotted blouse (random find at TJMaxx), Sherbet DL1961 jeans, Nine West gladiator heels, Blue suede clutch from target.

Coming soon to L+K

20130408-185656.jpg

Hello Lovelies!

We here at Lambs & Kings are always evolving and we want the blog to evolve with us. We are always trying to think of ways to improve, go bigger and stay relevant to “where we are” currently.

Soo…What’s up with us and What’s coming up on L+K?

Being a new Mommy certainly has contributed to my lack of time here on the blog not just b/c of time constraints but also because I wanted to be able to bring my A-game if I was to continue blogging, not just posting just to post…and juggling my time with baby Myles. The time off, gave me time to think about what I want to add to the blog and how I can make it include the biggest and newest portion of my lifestyle…which is being a mommy. Also I had to reconsider, how to juggle the blog, baby, home, and work (which I am starting next week! yikes!) so I came up with a plan that I think will make it fun for readers…give you something to look forward to… and give us the time we need to keep all our juggling balls in the air.

  • Monthly Themes / Weekly Posts: Each month we will have a theme (ex: diy, fashion, food, travel etc) and we will post on that topic once a week (every Thurs/Fri)
  • Weekly Wardrobe Roundup: I love experimenting with my wardrobe for work and for weekending. My goal is to do a roundup of my favorite wardrobe highlights from the week
  • Product Reviews: I love trying out new products for different things and I want to share my thoughts with you in case some of you out there are interested in trying out the same products. Products will vary from: baby gear, beauty products, food! If you have a product that you would like me to try and review, contact me.
  • Interviews: There are a lot of people that are an inspiration to me and they play a big fueling part to what and why I do this blog. Some of you may even know these individuals and if you are like me, I always wonder what its like to be them and pick their brain a little bit.

So what do you think? I hope you are just as excited as I am about these changes…let me know if you have any suggestions or if you would like to see something here on the blog.

xoxo

Colors Abound

bold colorista gift guide
Spring has sprung and we couldn’t be more excited! I’ve spend the winter inside, nesting and bonding with my baby boy Myles. The coming of spring means more sunshine, more galavanting, and more fun. That is why I was especially giddy to see all the pops of color, bold patterns, and fun accessories for spring. Cant wait to step out in them. What are some of your favorite spring trends?
1. Diane von Furstenberg color block dress, $285

2. Tory Burch flat shoes

3. Diane von Furstenberg leather tote bag

4. BCBGMAXAZRIA color block handbag

5. BaubleBar charm jewelry

6. Butter London , $17

7. 24 Mini Color Block Magnets

8. Marimekko Piccolo notebook A5, black-white, $24

9. Kate Spade Wallet $110

10. Kate Spade coin purse $52

The Wrap Around: Neon Belts

neon belts

Today I am wearing a  black and white print dress with a scoop neck bodice top and A-line skirt. I wanted to add some separation and definition by adding a belt and was looking for my bright Yellow belt…which unfortunately…I couldn’t find!! So I settled for a braided brown leather belt instead. I hate compromising my outfit =( This made me come to think of where I can get some great bright colored belts since the only one had is nowhere to be found. I stumbled upon many amazing choices most of which are very affordable! I plan of scooping up most of these. enjoy AND…. HAPPY FRIDAY!!

Color of the Year: Honeysuckle

{elements of style}

Well Pantone announced their 2011 color of the year a few weeks ago. Its Pantone 18-2120….also known as…Honeysuckle!!

Its a shade of pink that has just enough brightness and just enough softness to it. The above color schemes shared by Erin Gate from Elements of Style, showcase the versatility of honeysuckle…and although she may have been alluding to interior design and style…I think that her combos also make excellent wedding color palletes. Here are a couple of combos that I chose to make simple inspiration boards out of. Cant find the exact shade for every detail in your wedding? Go ahead and mix it up with different and similar shades. Its a great way to add texture to your event =)

Would you use this color? Are you using this color? How?

What we love: Little Details

1. Felt flowers

I love all the new alternative Bouquet Ideas I have been seeing. The last post was on vintage brooch bouquets but here are some made out of felt flowers…they are so adorable. YOu can also choose to wear a collection of these in your hair…..did i mention this is a DIY project? check out the “how to” on the Brides Cafe Blog

2. Wicker

{The bride’s cafe}
These photos were part of a collection of photos from a wedding in Costa Rica. The wicker adds great texture to the setting and the decor of the event. It totally pulls together the beachy-ness of the style but its so versatile that you can play with it to make it match other themes and styles.

3. Lace Doilies

{Ruffled}
Especially when they are made into these cute little envelopes. Yet again, another DIY project. Check out the how to…here

4. Wooden Words

Not just any wooden words…these ones called “nuzzles”. I love the style and typography as well as how the letters are split into pieces and they link together like a puzzle.
From the Nuzzles website:
“Nuzzles™ are custom designed wooden typographic puzzles handcrafted by John Christenson since 2008, each with its own unique characteristics. Every Nuzzle is crafted from a single block of wood, and the characters interlock with each other in a way that creates a sense of harmony and integrity”

5. Pears

{style me pretty}
A different take on the “candied” apple. such lovely presentation as well.
6. Caligraphy flags
{Southern weddings Magazine}
I know, such a random and precise detail. but I seriously love these little suckers. They are so dainty and cute…adding a little playful-ness yet the calligraphy keeps it classy. Not to mention they make great markers or ways to label items as well as place holders. Instead of personalized napkins with your name and date, you can have straws such as these with flags, so they can go into every one’s drink.
